Let Me Introduce Myself
I was raised by a single mom after my parents divorced when I was very young. My mom worked full time and did my grandfather’s books on the weekends. One of my earliest memories is being a little girl in my grandfather’s office sorting and counting change.
When I was to become a mom myself I became focused on figuring out how to be home with my daughter, yet still contribute financially. This was the motivation behind my entrepreneurial journey. I started my own home daycare which turned into a home based bookkeeping business.
My little bookkeeping business gave me a perfect work life balance until life took a drastic turn when my girls were 8 and 11. Their dad got diagnosed with cancer and we lost him not long after. Learning to live on my own and take care of the house and kids and bills and the yard by myself was not easy. It was overwhelming and I was definitely presented some painful learning opportunities that taught me to stand in my power and not give up or give in.
By changing my focusing from what I don’t like in my life, to focusing on what I want, and creating a plan to get it, I have been able to manifest my dreams into reality. If I can do it, so can you!
Mission ahead
If I Can, Anyone Can.
I am more in love with my business than ever and love helping others create their dream. Here I am, a college dropout who failed math, with social anxiety, and I’m running a successful business working with other business owners on how to do the same all from the safety and privacy of my home.
Becoming a mom changed my life.
20 years ago being a momtrepreneur wasn’t really heard of, but now it even has a name. I decided to plan my life around my kids and it was the best decision I ever made.
I have the best clients
Helping others succeed has become my favorite part of the business and my passion. I don’t believe in being a victim or living in fear. Your obstacles don’t need hold you back or own you but can propel you forward instead. By changing my perspective and focusing on what I want in my life, writing about and visualizing what I want to create I have been able to manifest my dreams into reality.
Starting E&M
My first business started by watching other people’s kids so I could get paid for staying home with my own. I dropped out of college after my freshmen year and got married young so had no skill set so knew daycare would cost more than I could earn a my regular job. My husband’s job as a firefighter in a small town did not pay well so I definitely needed to continue to contribute financially.
It turned out, I not only liked keeping the daycare’s books, but I was really good at it and preferred it over the day to day of running the daycare. My tax preparer asked If I wanted to earn extra money helping others with their books. I dipped my toe in the waters of bookkeeping and took on one of his clients that also ran a home daycare. The connection with other women helping them run their businesses sparked a passion in me.
As it turned out, creating E&M Bookkeeping would be what saved me and my kids when my husband and I separated shortly before he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. I’m forever grateful I had started my own business and created some financial independence. If I hadn’t, we would have been destitute. Even better, being self-employed gave me the flexibility to be a full time hands on mom AND support us.
